Hi all from the Antipodes! :)
It gives me great pleasure to announce that New Zealand is holding its first MEGA event in October 2012. We are holding it in Dunedin - located in the South Island. If you've ever thought about a caching trip to New Zealand, then this would be a great event and trip to consider.
For more information, please see our official website (http://www.gps.org.nz/geocaching/mega2012):
This is our first announcement, and so extensive details are not yet available, but we will be adding a lot over the coming weeks to help people make both the decision, and large commitment required to travel downunder.
We have an event listing ready to go, but we can't publish it as a MEGA until we have a fair indication that we'll have the numbers. So, our initial step is a Registration of Interest for those that are seriously considering attending. We currently have ~170 people (about half New Zealand, and half Australian) indicating that they will attend, and that is within only 15 hours of going public. As soon as we get close to 500, we will be able to demonstrate to Groundspeak that we have the numbers and the actual event will be published.
Those that register their interest, will also be added to an announcement-only email list to provide updates on NZ MEGA 2012 planning. Of course, all these updates will also be published to our NZ MEGA 2012 website.
