so easy one a question is set, answer it and when it's confirmed you've got it right you set the next question....

easy one to start with

who was the first star wars main character to speak in the original film?

KathyXB
8th April 2007, 09:32 PM
C-3PO the droid B)

keehotee
9th April 2007, 12:48 AM
Aaaaah - this was a pub quiz question years ago - and we got it wrong with C3PO - because although he's a major character, he doesn't speak - he's a droid, and therefore communicates by making noises with a speaker, and not a voice box.

The first spoken lines aren't until over 5 minutes into the film - by one of the troopers, and the reply is by Darth Vader.

I 'spose it all depends on how pedantic the quizmaster is feeling.......

edit: although come to think of it, that's how Darth Vader communicates too. Hmmmmmm????

nobbynobbs
9th April 2007, 04:46 AM
i'm not anally retentive or pedantic so as far as i'm concerned voice was emitted by an ACTOR , yes i'm sorry to break it to you, C3PO isn't real :o so C3PO is the answer.... all yours kathy.

KathyXB

Blimey didn't expect that much controversy...

What was the name painted on the vehicle that the Bride uses to drive around exacting her revenge in Kill Bill?

highest
star wars

lowest
resident evil apocalypse

keehotee
9th April 2007, 05:48 PM
No - neither of those - or not in that order. Would be more specific but that'd narrow it down to far.

nobbynobbs
11th April 2007, 05:41 AM
highest lord of the rings and lowest kill bill 2??? :)

sooner or later i'll get it right by default... though it's a shame no one else if around to play.

William Hurt starred in my favourite file (the name of which shall remain a mystery to all) - but he also starred in Lost In Space. What was his (and consequently his family's) name?

Sorry - this is actually a really easy question - but I'm too tired to think of a harder one right now.

In the Harry Potter films, Peter Pettigrew, a schoolfriend of Harry's father, was wrongly thought to have been long dead. This was because all that had been found left of him was what part?

DR. Ape

22nd April 2007, 09:07 PM
how did u guess!!!

keehotee
22nd April 2007, 10:05 PM
I've just got a memory for silly names - and Billy Speedramp's one of 'em - there was an article on lawnmower racing in one of my brother in laws car mags - and last time I was there I was sat on the loo (as you do......) flicking through them, and read it.

But I digress - on with the thread - - - - - based on another favourite...
What (rather tenuously) links Donald Sutherland and Nescafe Gold Blend?

KathyXB
23rd April 2007, 07:11 PM
Some sort of rich, smooth aroma? LOL

keehotee
23rd April 2007, 07:29 PM
LOL

Can't say I've ever been close enough to Donald Sutherland to know......you'll have to buff up your ideas if you want a stake in the prize.

nobbynobbs

DR. Ape

OK then - an easy one to get it all flowing again - and as they're both sat on my movie shelf - what is the difference in running times between the original release Blade Runner (on VHS), and the directors cut Blade Runner (also VHS)?

The Shootist?

DR. Ape
2nd July 2007, 10:15 PM
Correct :D - we cheated a bit on this question as we had a disagreement and had to GOOGLE the answer ourselves. :dunno: :halo:

You could have had:-

The Shootist — After winning a seemingly hopeless gunfight with three opponents simultaneously, he is shot in the back by the bartender.

The Cowboys — He is killed by being shot in the back.

The Alamo — Playing Davy Crockett, he's stabbed with a lance, then staggers into the ammunition room with a lit torch and blows it up.

Sands of Iwo Jima — He is killed at the end of the film by a bullet fired by a Japanese sniper.

Wake of the Red Witch — He drowns when the sunken ship he is trying to salvage shifts and drops further into the ocean, carrying him with it.

The Fighting Seabees — He is shot by a sniper as he attempts to dismount from a bulldozer loaded with TNT aimed at a fuel depot.

Reap the Wild Wind — He is trapped inside the wreck of a sunken ship after a fight with a giant squid and drowns.

There are a few other films where he is dead but it is not shown on screen. Ok another argument  .......... you don't see him die in the alamo!

Over to you Keehotee before we have another disagreement

So I cannot put the answer up because if it is right :P and we are disqualified :( then whose go will it be  . Perhaps Keehotee will have to set another. :D

You might as well have the Ding Matt - don't think anybody else wants to play.
The answer was multiple roles played by one person - not necessarily the lead....

Having had a beverage the other night Hubby Ape was trying to work this one out! As is often the case when having had a drink  (a fine ale) he had 'solved' the answer, however come morning and it was just beyond his grasp, he couldn't quiet recall it

(ok I'm being honest it was a little more than 1 beer) The best he can do is Kung Fu or Bruce Lee :dunno:

Well - the answer was going to be .........

but as you're both heading in the right direction, I'll toss a coin for it.

OK, lost that coin.

Arm wrestle for it.
(Or alternatively, the first of you to read this gets the Ding)

I'm not sure that it should be me (and i'd like to know what the actual answer was meant to be) but for the sake of keeping the thread going:

What links "Ferris buellers day off" with "two and a half men"?

Marlon Brando?
Because he was in Apocalypse Now with Martin Sheen - who was the father of an actor (Emilio Estevez) who's brother (Charlie Sheen - also an actor, apparently) was in both films?
