Finally reached 500 trigs on S5412 Robert Law yesterday. As I'll be 35 very shortly, I should have a reasonable chance of doubling that total before the Grim Reaper comes a-calling. A sort of slow motion race against the clock.

But unless you've been trigpointing all your life, I would hope that you'll do a lot more than just double that figure before you shuffle off...

Thanks. GSAK stat generator suggests agentmancuso should reach 1000 finds in 1553 days (213 Caching days) on 27/10/2012, but I don't think it factors in the currently exponential increase in the price of petrol. hmy:

Hit 600 yesterday, at the battered remains of Whittingehame Aux 1, which is also on the YOSM list, thought that was more or less a coincidence. I'd spent well over an hour looking for another Berntsen in Dunbar, so I was glad to see this one, despite the missing lid.

Also set eyes on the oldest Flush Bracket it Scotland, which was nice.

I didn't either till I read GRP's log later on that day. I did know it was my first less-than-5- digit-non-prefixed FB, but that's a lot less snappy.

If I understand your original log of S8820 correctly, the photo by Ian Mitchell is of a now defunct pillar that once stood at the very summit, where the OS now have listed only a rivet ("HT TO RIVET IN CONCRETE")?

If so, then it surely merits a T:UK entry of it's own? Though maybe it's too close to do this without admin privilegies. I'm still waiting to add Portpatrick Tidal Gauge Bolt to the T:UK database (it's a Passive Station too), but emails to admin seem to disappearing down a black hole at present.

I see there's a block listed on nearby Mullach Mor at NA 09298 00101. Got a spade with you?

Hmm, wasn't aware the Conachair Sundial had or has a rivet (I don't think it ever was a trig pillar, just a sundial). Didn't get round to revisiting Conachair.

I saw the Claigeann Mor Bolt again in passing.

I got out to The Cambir; later Brian Ewing mentioned there's a Bolt there! NF075015ish. If so, I didn't happen to notice it

I did however notice another Bolt on Clash na Bearnaich, NF094987ish. That would make 6 trigs on Hirta, incl S8820.

I've not checked any of these issues on OS website as yet: details & photos will emerge in the next few days

South Harris: I found the Renish Point Bolt NG0482 which was mentioned on trigonomy, also one on Greaval summit (NG0089) shown as trig on Expl. Also visited Killegray NF9784 where Expl shows a trig. Could see no sign of a Bolt there but there's an old tall drystone cairn at summit which is probably an old navigation aid and the OS may have sighted to it? Again not had chance to check OS site as yet.

A couple of Trig POI file issues I came across in the field:
Leoid http://www.trigpointinguk.com/trigs/...ils.php?t=4402 is stonebuilt according to POI file but it's a normal Hotine; I think the POI's confusing it with Beinn Leoid.

Given as S9089 in POI but is S5144 as per TUK

However the POI files are really useful in the field :wub: A minor annoyance is that where a trig and a hill are co-located, it's normally not possible with my Garmin Etrex to select the trig, just the hill.

Right on both counts Rob - I'd got all three Creag Mhors muddled up

When you say you can only select the hill not the trig, do you mean directly from the map screen? On mine sometimes one icon overlaps the other entirely, but I'd never noticed a fixed pattern to it.

If you go in Find/Custom POI/ (main menu button) Select Database you should be able to limit the search to just trigs or whatever file required.

I've sorted the errors on the Trigs POI master copy, but I won't upload a new version till I've seen all your other reports. :coffee:

Yes indeed. Hill always sits on top of Trig; very rarely can select trig. Presumably relates to the order in which the POIs are created from csv. I guess it would be possible to get trig on top by renaming a file? That would also be annoying though.
